"Train up a child in the way he should go..."
We welcome you to Knoxville Baptist Christian School, the city of Knoxville's oldest Christian school. Beginning with child care in 1968 and expanding to a full-day K5 to 12th grade ministry in 1973, the school has as its purpose the reaching of families with the Gospel of Christ while training young people within a traditional academic program, including use of the Virtual School of ABEKA Academy. Students in grades 7-12 have the option of choosing A BEKA Academy's program that is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The school is the vision of the founding pastor of Knoxville Baptist Tabernacle, Dr. Bob Bevington, known throughout the area and around the United States, as a leader in Christian fundamentalism. Pastor Tony Greene is the president of Knoxville Baptist Christian School.
KBCS yearly graduates young people who go on to college, the military, and traditional occupations in our society. Our graduates have attended a variety of public, private, and Christian colleges and universities.
A strength of Knoxville Baptist Christian School is a staff with numerous years of experience, not only in education, but in teaching here at KBCS. Several staff members have thirty or more years of classroom experience here at our school. That experience has bred a confidence in our parents to know what they can expect from their children's instruction.
The school is set up on quarterly nine-week sessions, and utilizes the IOWA Achievement Testing Program. Materials from A BEKA, Bob Jones Press, and Saxon are used in our curriculum. KBCS has before and after school care, and a hot-lunch program.
KBCS is a member of the Tennessee Association of Christian Schools. Our diplomas, as a private school (TCA 1-3-118 and 49-50-801), are recognized by the state of Tennessee.
